Software MNP Drivers for DOS and Windows

OEM Products Licensed with Source Code

Maclean MNP is a software MNP driver for DOS and Windows. Licensed as an OEM product, it can be integrated into communication applications either to provide reliable link-level connections where modem-based MNP is unavailable or inconvenient, or for communications with dedicated MNP devices such as the Apple Newton.

For Windows, the driver is supplied as a DLL; the DOS version is supplied as a static object library. Each is equipped with a powerful API for establishing and using MNP connections. A 16-bit version of the DLL serves Windows 3.1 and Windows for Workgroups while a 32-bit DLL serves Windows 95 and NT. Actual use of the MNP protocol is optional; an application can use the driver for regular ("raw") communication via COM ports or TAPI devices and switch to MNP only when necessary.

The driver fully supports MNP classes 2 and 4. The DOS product is written in assembly language and is very small and efficient. The Windows version is written in C and includes an optional tracing feature for diagnosing MNP problems. Support for MNP Class 5 (compression) is planned for future releases.

Maclean MNP has been licensed by Apple Computer, Borland International, ConnectSoft, MCI, Microsoft, Xemplar and other companies. It is normally licensed with source code and comes with a complete reference manual and sample applications.

Please consult us if you need MNP or V.42 software for other platforms.
